A lowly farmhouse forty years ago, Amnesia became a hangout for hippies in the 1970s, an after-hours club in the 1980s and then the most fashionable club on the island with an underground musical policy that encompassed dark minimal proto-house tunes and electro club hits. This spirit of innovation has endured and the club has worked with key promoters including Cream, Sven Vath’s Cocoon and Elrow, while maintaining their own espuma (foam) parties. The vast warehouse-like main room is the place to rave and its huge dancefloor – studded with speaker towers – is ideally suited to progressive house, trance and techno.

A classic haunt on the Sunset Strip with a deserved reputation for ambient tunes and strong cocktails (€10 before 5pm, about €15 after). Famed for its big-name DJs, party nights and amazing sunsets.
